Which is better phpBB engine?

Postby KillBill » Thu Jan 08, 2015 2:02 am

I wish you could you explain well.

My opinion:

phpBB 3.0.12 - good and very fast
phpBB 3.1 - Nice, but very slow

3.1 still in devlopment in my opion so when it grow it will be faster.
I like the option extensions easy to handel so when time is there and there is a arcade I will use the new version.

3.0.1.2 good fast but building in mods not for every on easy.

I have not upgraded to 3.1 because I believe it is not complete yet.

I have just upgraded to 3.1.4 and my site is working extremly fast. The only problem for the moment is that there are few Extensions that really can be used. The old and good Mods are not yet converted and perhaps will not be soon converted, since is a very hard work to accomplish the request from phpbb.

I will try the extension of arcade for the 3.1.x phpbb.

I like 3.1 better because much easier to install extensions than modifications. Not all modifications would work because of file changes. I find 3.1 faster than 3.0

Also I find 3.1 more mobile friendly which is good for ratings on Google and better for guests looking at the site.

I had the feeling that 3.1 was running slower on my shared host.
Now on dedicated server it's working very fast..

It is probably already an older contribution but on my part I would say the phpbb 3.2 is so far the best. The version with adapted php 7 is up to 30% faster than the phpbb 3.1.x version.
